Worth getting out of bed for

Days out with teenagers (13–16)

Teens will walk if the thing at the end is excellent. Aim for a headline: a coaster, a surf lesson, a hangar of aircraft, a studio tour. Pair it with decent food and you have a win.

Adrenaline

Thorpe Park, Alton Towers, The Wave in Bristol or Coventry, and Go Ape are honest about being for this age. Do not dilute them with a petting zoo unless a younger child is genuinely coming.

Brain food that does not feel like school

Titanic Belfast, IWM Duxford, RAF Cosford, the Science Museum’s Wonderlab and Dynamic Earth all have enough spectacle. The National Railway Museum still lands, especially if they like engineering.

Drive time honesty

A 50-minute drive is fine. A 90-minute drive for a 90-minute attraction is not. DayHop’s hour window exists for this reason.
