Free family days out

Some of the country’s best days out are free at the door. You will still buy lunch and a train fare, but the attraction itself does not charge. That changes how often you can go.

National museums

Natural History Museum, Science Museum, National Railway Museum York and RAF Museum Midlands (Cosford) are free. Book timed slots where they exist. Donate if the day was good.

Parks that feel like a trip

Richmond Park, Hyde Park and the Diana Memorial Playground, Windsor Great Park and countless country parks cost nothing. Deer, kites and a playground beat a mediocre paid attraction more often than we admit.

Watch the extras

Planetariums, Wonderlab and lockers are the paid bits inside free museums. Decide before you queue. DayHop marks price band so Free stays at the top when you want it.
